Boko Haram`s leader Abubakar Shekau formally announces allegiance to IS

Nigerian terrorist organization, Boko Haram announced its allegiance to the Islamic State on Saturday. Group`s leader, Abubakar Shekau, uploaded an audio message in Arabic, with English subtitles on Twitter to break the news.

The group pledged allegiance to the Caliph of the Muslims and expressed willingness to hear and obey him in times of difficulty and prosperity, in hardship and ease. IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has declared himself the caliph.

The announcement came after Boko Haram lost a score of it northeastern towns to multinational forces.
