The Aam Aadmi Party's efforts towards making Delhi a corruption free city have started showing results. Three persons were taken to the custody for allegedly taking bribe by the Anti Crime Branch (ACB) yesterday. It is the first arrest related to any complaint made by newly re-launched anti-graft helpline in Delhi.

According to ACB, a complaint was lodged by a caller on anti-graft (1031) helpline claiming that bribe was being taken at the entry gate of Azadpur Mandi for allowing trucks to enter inside with valid entry pass.

"The caller was asked to do a sting and after that a team of 15-18 officers carried out a raid around 1:30 a.m and found out that there were 20,000 trucks in the queue," an official said.

ACB verified the details of the complaint and arrested three people including one government employee.

"A security-in-charge and two contractual workers were arrested who used to take huge amount of money depending on the urgency and cost of consignment in the truck," an official said, and added, "These were the first three arrests made upon the complaint by anti-graft helpline."

According to the government, within 100 hours of its launch, the helpline answered a total of 32,489 telephone calls out of which only 70 were found to be serious and they were forwarded to ACB for investigation.
