In the light of continuously rising crime graph against Indians in the USA, a Gujarati woman was shot dead in South Carolina.

The victim identified as Mradulaben Patel was a co-owner of a gas station in Powdersville. The police sources said that it was a case of an attempted armed robbery and they have taken the video footage to identify the criminal.

'The woman was shot in the face thrice and was left to die on the floor with blood all over her face,' said Michael Wheat, who saw Patel lying on the floor as he walked into the store late at night.

Wheat rescued Patel and admitted her to the nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday night.

Officials said that a video footage shows a man walking into the store and buying a pack of cigars. Authorities are reviewing the surveillance footage that showed the suspect shooting Patel without taking any money.

The residents in the area said that Patel was a gentle woman and she never misbehaved with any person.
