Bangkok: The five Thai students who were detained in Pakistan for attempting to carry a gun aboard a flight to Bangkok returned home on Thursday, a media report said.

The students were detained by Pakistan police on June 8 after a pistol and ammunition were discovered in the hand luggage of Tuan Abdulrosah Loji, one of the five who boarded a Thai Airways flight at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport, the Bangkok Post reported.

The Thai foreign ministry worked with law enforcement agencies in Pakistan to secure the release of the five students.

Officials were sent to Lahore to follow up the case and assist them with legal procedures.

The five students were finally released from Lahore police station on June 22.
