A strong earthquake of magnitude 5.5 hit the northern regions of Pakistan on early Tuesday morning, just before they were preparing for their Roza meal. Tremors of the quake were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Malakand, Swat, Lower Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra and several areas of Gilgit-Baltistan.

As reported by media outlets, the epicentre of the earthquake was in Afghanistan, 22km west of Ashkasham.

The tweets were also targeted Facebook users who had recently changed their profile pictures using a rainbow-themed app.
