Patna: A day after an undertrial prisoner was killed in Beur Central Jail in Bihar, police recovered from inmates five iron rods, six knives, a mobile phone, SIM cards, gold jewellery, and cash, officials said.

Also seized from the inmates were some railway documents, but officials did not confirm the nature of these documents immediately.

The iron rods, knives and other items were seized from prisoners of the Beur Central Jail in Patna during searches carried out on early Sunday, police said.

"Most of these items were recovered from a ward where dreaded gangster Ritlal Yadav is lodged," an official said.

A team of district police conducted the searches a day after an undertrial prisoner was beaten to death in a clash between two groups of inmates inside the jail here. Two jail wardens were suspended for the incident.
