88 militants killed in Afghanistan

Kabul: At least 88 militants were killed by units of the Afghan national police backed by the army during series of operations across the country over the past 24 hours to Wednesday morning.

During the operations which have been conducted in Nangarhar, Laghman, Parwan, Takhar, Kunduz, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Balkh, Zabul, Oruzgan, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Khost, Paktiya and Helmand provinces, 88 militants were killed and 16 insurgents sustained injuries, Xinhua news agency quoted the country's interior ministry as saying on Wednesday.

The statement did not specify any casualties among the security personnel.
