New Delhi: The pay scales of prosecution officers working under the directorate of prosecution, Delhi government, are to be raised as per decided by the Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday, in a meeting chaired by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

"The cabinet took note of the fact that the job of prosecutors in Delhi is very taxing, given the complex nature of court cases in the capital, and therefore the proposal for increase in pay hike is justified," said a senior official.

The meeting also approved the law department's proposal to increase the posts of government standing counsels in the high court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to ensure that the government is effectively and adequately represented.

"It has been decided to create the post of senior standing counsel (civil) in the Delhi High Court. One additional post of standing counsel (civil) will be created in the high court. The number of additional standing counsels (civil) will be increased from seven to 15. Four new posts of additional attending counsels in the NGT will be created," said the official.
