New Delhi: The Modi government is all set to announce One-Rank-One-Pension (OROP) package that would finally draw curtains to a long-standing dispute between the government and the war veterans.

The government is likely to announce the package in next two or three days that would implement OROP from July 2014 and the base year for calculations would be 2013, according to a report in Times of India.

Even though the veterans are still demanding that the pensions be revised at least once in two years, the government is holding to its proposal of revising the pensions once in five years.

The veterans had earlier demanded the annual revision of pensions, whereas the government revises the pensions once in ten years for civilians.

The government has decided to pay the arrears from July 2014 in four installments spread over two years except in the case of widows, to whom the arrears would be paid in one shot, as per TOI report.
