Court awards life term to Uber driver for rape

New Delhi: A court here on Tuesday sentenced to imprisonment for life till death an Uber cab driver who raped a woman executive on December 5, last year.

Uber cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav was convicted by a court for raping a woman executive on the night of December 5, 2014, in his taxi that she hired to head back home in Delhi's Inderlok area.

Police had said Yadav drove the woman to an isolated place and raped her.

The court had framed charges of rape, causing grievous bodily harm and endangering the life of a woman, besides other charges.
