New Delhi: A day after Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan bemoaned the "growing intolerance" in the country, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya lashed out at the former saying that "the actor lives in India, but his heart is in Pakistan."

Talking to a news channel, Khan said on Monday, "There is intolerance, there is extreme intolerance… there is, I think… there is growing intolerance."

"It is stupid… It is stupid to be intolerant and this is our biggest issue, not just an issue… Religious intolerance and not being secular in this country is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot," he said, adding that "I respect those who returned awards, but I don't have to."

Reacting to the actor's remarks, BJP leader Vijayvargiya tweeted on Tuesday asking, "Where was Shahrukh Khan when 1993 blasts, 26/11 attacks took place, killing hundreds of people?"

He added: "Shahrukh Khan lives in India, but his heart is in Pakistan. His movies make crores of rupees in India, yet he finds the country intolerant."

Vijayvargiya alleged that it was all a conspiracy of Pakistan and other anti-India forces to stop India from becoming a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

"Creating an atmosphere of intolerance is a part of that conspiracy and Shahrukh is aiding Pakistan in its anti-India endeavors."
