New Delhi: With an aim to turning the capital city into an entertainment hub, Delhi government on Monday announced that it will conduct a slew of events for both national and international artists.

The Delhi government has collaborated with the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), an event promoter brand, to streamline the process of conducting events in the future.

"We have already streamlined the process of conducting events and eased the rules and regulations to book a venue in the capital. Permission to conduct Zubin Mehta's concert was given within a month. We strongly believe that all kinds of events, including international events, can be conducted in Delhi," said Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra.

Stressing that such an initiative will be beneficial as a public-private partnership, the minister said the new step will also lead to other states turning themselves into entertainment hubs.

Mishra said the initiative will be a joint effort, and the city government will undertake the marketing task for private players of the event management industry.

The first event to be organised under this collaboration will be the NH7 Weekender which will be held on November 28 and 29. Grammy Award winner A.R. Rahman, one of the 50 artists for the event, will be performing in the capital after seven years,

EEMA president Sabbas Joseph said that earlier, they needed 14 licences to conduct a single show. "But now it has been streamlined into a single-window option by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal."
