New Delhi: The group of BJP loyalists working towards strengthening the party's functioning among the Indian diaspora, Overseas Friends of BJP, is soon going to become a formal, structured body.

It will work as a pressure group in countries such as the US, the UK, Australia, Canada and the UAE, reports The Economic Times.

"We plan to make the Overseas Friends of BJP a structured body that works on a sustained basis throughout the year," said a source in the BJP. "It would work as a pressure group for India's cause in these countries and be in touch with the governments, political parties, influential professionals and other bodies. The diaspora should sell India's strengths to the people and government in these countries."

The main concept behind structuring the group is to strengthen India's domination in the countries where the group presently operates.

According to the website of Overseas Friends of BJP, USA, the group is dedicated to working towards projecting a positive and correct image of India and its people in the U.S. and foreign media, and correct any distortions in the media's reporting of current events taking place in India.

The group will be managed and operated by the same people who are responsible for handling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign trips. Also, the group will be called by the same name in all countries except the Muslim-dominated country, UAE.(Inputs from agencies)
