Dhaka: Bangladeshi Hindus celebrated Holi, the festival of colors, fun and frolic, on Wednesday with fervour.

The festival has brought more Hindu people to the temples in old parts of the capital Dhaka than on any other normal day of the year.

Bengali Hindu observe Holi though Durga Puja, the ceremonial worship of the mother goddess, is one of their main important festivals.

Students at Dhaka University on Tuesday morning were seen getting drenched in colour, singing and dancing together.

Although it is mainly a Hindu festival, some Muslims were also seen joining their Hindu friends celebrating Holi. Hindus believe that Holi brings a message of unity and friendship and bridges the communal divides.
