Sept 21, 2016: On Tuesday, former British Columbia premier Ujjal Dosanjh in the interview of the launch of his autobiography, 'Journey After Midnight' said, like the rest of the country, the political parties in Punjab are in a sad state of affairs. Only, a total change in the whole scenario can change the condition of the people of the State.
Aam Aadmi Party's popularity raised high hopes among the Punjabis in Canada just when Manpreet Singh Badal formed the People's Party of Punjab (PPP). All of it went in vain when no effective leadership was seen. Still, many NRIs are supporting AAP and are hoping for some major changes in the current scenario.

According to Hindustan Times, Ujjal Dosanjh said, "What we need today are giants as leaders, the kind that emerged during the national freedom movement but they are nowhere in sight." He further commented on the Lokpal Bill by saying, "Bills do not change the political fabric of a country. What is required is a revolution."

Though, allegations of AAP receiving funds and supports from radical Sikh groups in Canada were dismissed by him. He said, "There may be some support from individuals but not any group. The day of such radical groups is long past though we lived through the misery."

Dosanjh further said, "There is a difference because I made Canada my home and assumed leadership after that. If (Delhi chief minister) Arvind Kejriwal wants to assume leadership of Punjab, he must first make it his home."
