Mumbai: Fire breaks out at a Chawl in Suburban Bandra, about 5 Tenements gutted in the blaze

Mumbai, Dec 7, 2016: Early this morning, a major fire broke out a chawl located in suburban Bandra, where about 3-5 tenements were gutted in the blaze, officials said.

No casualty or injury has been reported in the tragic incident that occurred at the chawl in Behram Nagar in Bandra (east).

"We received a call at around 4 am today (regarding the blaze) and 10 fire engines along with water tankers were pressed into action immediately to douse the flames," a fire brigade official said, mentioned PTI.

Even though the number of tenements who were gutted in the blaze is not quite clear, but it is suspected that there were 3-5 of them. He said, adding that the fire was contained to a small area by the fire brigade personnel and the flames were doused by 8 am.

The loss of property and cause of the fire were being ascertained, he said.
