Social media influences our perception of love

Many of us draw parallels from films and television shows rather than comparing actual love. Isn't that something that makes you think? Do you ever wonder why individuals appear to believe in a love that is intended to be amusement?

High commitment: This is described as ensuring that your partnership is fulfilled on a daily basis. It indicates that at all times, both spouses are completely content with their relationship. For the other, each individual is continuously filled with butterflies. When you actually fall in love and are a part of a strong relationship, this is just one facet of your connection.

You'll have bad days and days when you'd rather have an emotional experience with each other than share something physically. There will be times when you don't want to speak at all. True love is being able to sit in quiet with someone you care about.

Romance: It's all about the flowers, the lavish dinners, the house, and valuing your life over his in the movies. It is vital to place a high value on romance. On the other hand, it's the little things that keep it going. It's something on which both parties should focus their efforts. Do you wake up early before he leaves for work to say your goodbyes?

Do you get a kiss when he comes home? If you practise basic things after courting, the spark will last. It's up to both of you to keep it going.

This is a tricky one: the "nomeansyes" cliché. It's challenging because social media has figured out a way to persuade us to believe in something that is neither practical nor realistic. We have a propensity to imagine that the one person with whom we misjudged our time, the one who slipped away, will return to us at some point.

Isn't it reasonable to expect someone who is so perfect for you to find a way to connect with you? Yes, there are situations when this method is effective. It is, nonetheless, preferable to let someone go with no expectations for the future. Allow the previous chapter to come to a conclusion before moving on to the next. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe the pages in your book that were set aside for this purpose.

The ideal individual is: Sorry to disappoint you, but this, too, is a fiction. Why? There is no such thing as a perfect human being. Because a dramatist meticulously fashioned them, we witness faultless depictions of persons in the media. It's possible that this is their idealised vision of what a person should be.

It is a proven fact that you should stop seeking for someone who is flawless in every way. Are you without flaws? Look for someone who shares your ambitions and beliefs. Most importantly, strive for a partnership in which you can appreciate both the positive and negative elements of each other. Accepting one other's shortcomings is also part of love.

Social media creates illusions for us. We cling to delusions that help us form our aspirations and perceptions of what love should be like. Allow yourself to let go of your delusions. Acts matter more than the perfect image when it comes to love. Perhaps we should try something else.

If you genuinely love someone, you should be courageous enough to take action, to make the great gesture at the conclusion of the movie, and to confess your love instead of waiting for them to do so. Instead of ideas, perhaps the capacity to find solutions and take control is what we should take away from social media. (IANS/PR)
