Chanda Bandh Satyagraha launched in Delhi: Here is how it is creating Awareness in Public against AAP’s Opaque Funding Practices

Aam Aadmi Party has taken down the list of donations from its website since June 2016

Rajghat, New Delhi, Dec 25, 2016: A former co-convener to NRI Cell, a Chicago-based Neonatologist and suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member- Dr Munish Raizada called upon party workers, volunteers and also the public with a simple idea- “Be the Change you want to see”. This gave shape to a powerful initiative- Chanda Bandh Satyagraha, which says not to donate funds to AAP until the party makes its donation list public.

Supporting Chanda Bandh Satyagraha or No List No Donation Campaign- Anna Hazare also questioned the funding practices of AAP. In his letter, he says, how the AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has forgotten the principles based on which the party was formed.

AAP has always claimed that it is common man’s party and is different from others and will be transparent in its financial transactions. On the formation of the party, it was stated that the party’s every single rupee collected by donations will be made public on the AAP’s website.

However, donor’s list is missing from AAP’s website, the page says “Under Construction. New Version coming soon.”

And it has been “under construction” for six months, now. The page of donors list is not available from June 2016.

Today, at Rajghat in New Delhi Munish Raizada along with other supporters gathered near Rajghat to protest against the opaqueness of AAP donation. There is a need to be accountable enough to curb corruption out of the country and bring change.

Aam Aadmi Party has taken down the list of donations from its website since June 2016 which coincided with the party receiving 3 notices from Income Tax Department asking for an explanation of certain discrepancies.
