She defended traditional marriage, calling it essential for loyalty in Indian culture.
Kangana Ranaut’s name has often been associated with controversy in recent times. Her opinions on various issues have frequently subjected the actress to trolling and online hate. The Queen actress has now drawn a new wave of attention by stating that “losers” use dating apps, not people like her. She recently shared her views on online dating apps in an interview with Hauterrfly.
She expressed that dating apps and live-in relationships are destroying Indian culture at its core. The Member of Parliament has sparked a new wave of controversy with her latest remarks on live-in relationships and dating apps.
During the interview, she questioned women who live with their partners before marriage: “Who is going to help them get an abortion if they get pregnant before marriage?”
Ranaut’s provocative comments once again made headlines. When asked whether she would consider creating a profile on a dating app, Kangana took offense and firmly denied the idea. She said she has never been interested in such platforms, calling them the “true gutter of our society.”
Weighing in on modern dating culture, she remarked that everyone has their own needs, but the real question is whether these needs can be addressed in an elegant way or in a crude manner. She criticized the current state of dating, saying: “Har raat nikal jaana (leaving home every night) in search of someone? That is what dating is now, and it’s a horrible situation.”
According to her, dating is a “neech” (low) activity, and she is not interested in connecting with people on such apps. While the host clarified that she would never judge someone for dating, Kangana countered that such a statement was made only under the pressure of avoiding online trolling. She added that people who use dating apps usually have low self-esteem or seek validation. “You find good people in your workplace, your college, or through the partners your parents find for you in an arranged marriage,” she said.
Her criticism extended further when she questioned the character of people who live with their partners before marriage. The conversation then shifted toward live-in relationships. Kangana spoke about the sanctity of marriage in Indian society, stating that it is a promise that ensures loyalty between a husband and wife. According to the Mandi MP, live-in relationships are not “women-friendly.”
“Who’s going to help you get an abortion? If you get pregnant tomorrow during a live-in relationship, who is going to take care of you?” she asked.
When it was pointed out that live-in relationships are legal, the Emergency actress argued that men can compartmentalize their emotions while women cannot, regardless of their emotional strength or education. She further added that the tradition of marriage should not be changed, stating: “Men are hunters who can impregnate any woman and walk away.”
