Rise of ISIS is ‘unintended consequence’ of Iraq invasion: Barack Obama

US President Barack Obama has suggested that rise of ISIS was an unintended consequence of the US invasion of Iraq by George W. Bush, as he spoke with Vice News, earlier this week.

The extremist group of ISIS rose rapidly in Iraq last year taking speed from the swathes of the country and territories in Syria, later declaring a 'caliphate' across areas under its control.

ISIS has been held responsible for causing atrocities such as mass beheading, public executions, and kidnapping of women in these areas.

Obama stated that ISIS is a direct outgrowth of al-Qaeda in Iraq that grew out of our invasion. This is one of the example of the unintended consequences.

" USA has 60 country coalition, and therefore, we must push back ISIS out of Iraq, " said Obama. He also showed concerns over underlying problem of disaffected Sunnis, especially in the areas of Libya and Yemen.
