Barack Obama not ready to endorse ‘friend’ Hillary Clinton

US President, Barack Obama is not ready to support the candidature of Hillary Clinton for presidency due to the possibility of other hopefuls including some "friends" also appearing for the post, according to his spokesperson.

According to Efe news service, Josh Earnest, White House spokesperson said that Obama is yet to show support towards Clinton's presidential nomination for 2016.

"Obama and Clinton have become friends, but there are other people who are friends of the president also who might decide to enter the race so, the president has not offered any sort of endorsement at this point," Earnest said.

Though the spokesperson did not identify who those "friends" are, Vice President, Joe Biden could predictably be among them if he finally decides to compete for the Democratic nomination.

Earnest emphasized that it will be "the responsibility of Democratic voters to decide who should be the Democratic nominee for president in 2016."

He added that once the process is conducted, whoever receives the party's nomination "can be confident to enjoy the support of President Obama in their campaign."

However, according to Earnest, the chief message of Clinton's campaign – the idea that US economy favors the richest over middle class largely coincides with the concerns expressed by Obama, over the past few years.

In fact, the kickoff for Clinton's campaign coincides with a week in which Obama will focus on his economic ideas for aiding the middle class. He has events planned for Tuesday, and Thursday at White House, and on Wednesday in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Earnest said, "This focus on economy is something we have long envisioned, making around Tax Day."

He added that the plan was decided "prior to the announcement of any of the candidates."
