Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi returns to India after 56-day sabbatical: reports

By Newsgram Staff Writer

After an absence of almost two months, the Congress party Vice President Rahul Gandhi has returned to New Delhi, a media report said.

The Gandhi scion returned to India after a 56 days sabbatical from Vietnam in a Thai Airways flight, the Newsroompost reported.

The Congress leader's absence had created a rift within the party ranks and many were already questioning Rahul's leadership capabilities.

Earlier, Shiela Dikshit, former chief minister of Delhi, had said, "(in case of) Rahul, of course, there is a question mark, there is skepticism because you have not seen him perform as yet."

In the absence of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party had to deal with the summons issued to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the ever growing dissent within the party.
