The family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose yesterday met PM Narendra Modi and urged him to declassify files related to the freedom fighter.

"On Saturday along with other members of the Bose family, we met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and told him that the declassification of Netaji files was a demand of the entire nation," Netaji's grand nephew Chandra Kumar Bose told reporters after the meeting with Modi.

The family members said that the Prime Minister assured them that he will look into the issue of declassification of files and said, 'it not only relates to the family but to the nation at large'.

They also talked about two nephews of Subhas Chandra Bose being kept under surveillance. "We raised the snooping issue in front of the PM and he ensured us by saying that MHA is investigating the matter," said Chandra Bose.

"He said he wanted to meet the whole family and involve historians, researchers and even journalists who have been trying to trace what happened to Netaji," Netaji's nephew added.

The family also demanded that Netaji's birthday should be observed as a national holiday and members of Indian National Army should be honored as freedom fighters.
