‘Pak High Commission had links with arrested ISI operatives’

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Monday revealed they have substantial information that the Pakistan High Commission had links with the ISI operatives who were arrested in connection with the Jammu and Kashmir spy ring. A lot of documents related to India's national security were recovered from their possession.

However, their arrest is a massive success for the Indian intelligence agencies. The busting of the huge espionage racket also helped the Indian agencies to know about the modus operandi of the Pakistani agents.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police had on Sunday busted the espionage racket backed by Pakistan's ISI and detained a suspected handler of this organisation and a serving BSF jawan.

Reportedly, the BSF head constable acted as the main link man among other agents. He was also responsible for gathering classified and confidential intelligence on Indian defence system. He used to report to Pakistan Intelligence Operative (PIO).

Both the BSF personnel had been arrested under the provisions of Official Secret Act and Indian Penal Code.

The accused duo were identified as Kafaitullah Khan alias Master Raja (44), a resident of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir, and BSF head constable Abdul Rasheed posted at the intelligence wing of Border Security Force in the same district.

While Khan allegedly handled Pakistani intelligence operatives in India, Rasheed used to gather information.

Kafaitullah Khan visited Pakistan in 2013 where he came in contacts with Pakistani ISI officials. He was offered a lot of money by the agency to procure intelligence.

During the grilling by Indian officials, Khan is said to have disclosed that he got information from Indian security agencies as well. He also reportedly disposed before the officials about the role of the Pakistan High Commission in operating the ISI agents.

Abdul Rasheed was remanded for seven days in police custody.
