US, August 01, 2017: Lipstick is now the gossip of the nation, thanks to the artistic celebration of 'women-oriented' subjects of late. Yes, lipstick is now the unique symbol of empowerment, but not without scientific backing.
Researchers from Harvard University are now examining what is being called the 'lipstick-effect.' The term points out to a psychological phenomenon whereby a person bearing cosmetics, not only feels physically attractive but also encounters a heightened sense of self-esteem, attitude and personality.
According to the study, the hike in self-esteem also affects our cognitive abilities in a positive way. The study reveals you're as fit as you think yourself to be.
The study conducted by the researchers involved a psychological experiment among female graduates. Before performing the test, one group applied makeup, the other listened to a music excerpt, while the third colored a drawing of a human face.
Amongst the three groups, those with makeup were found to have delivered the best performance.
