Kolkata:  West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today cried “intolerance” and “political vendetta” after her party’s Lok Sabha member Sudip Bandyopadhyay said his life is in danger.

Banerjee, on a visit to East Midnapore district, said she had instructed Bandyopadhyay to raise the issue in parliament as well as write to Home Minister Rajnath Singh besides filing a police complaint.

Without taking names, the chief minister said the MP was getting the threats for being vocal in parliament.

“They are threatening Sudip to kill him in Delhi and dispose off his body in Kolkata. This is nothing but intolerance,” said the chief minister.

“What kind of vendetta is this? Sudip is getting death threats for being vocal in parliament.

“Every party has the right to speak on any issue. Voices cannot be muzzled in a democracy.

“If they do not want the opposition to speak, let them impose Emergency. I have instructed Sudip to raise the issue in Lok Sabha,” she added. (IANS)(image courtesy: mymoneybazar.com)

MP Manoj Tiwari misbehaves with School Teacher but kneels before Bollywood Actress

  • Manoj Tiwari is the BJP MP who came in media highlights for his verbal assault on a teacher
  • The MP who was invited to a cultural event in UP celebrating the birth anniversary of Munshi Premchand
  • However, he did take out time to meet some of his friends from Bollywood

August 2, 2017: “You do not have manners to speak to an MP?” (Translated) were BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s words to a primary school teacher, enraged at her for requesting him to sing at a school function in the presence of CCTV cameras. Continuing his rant, he had asked the teacher to get off the stage and probed all present officers to take an action against her. Tiwari later received a lot of flak for the video, which had surfaced in May this year.

However, when Bollywood actors Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma reached Varaṇasi on July 31 to promote their upcoming movie ‘Harry Met Sejal’, the BJP MP was the first in line to join them for the promotions.

Tiwari was not only gracious enough to host the event for the actors but also very willingly knelt on his knees throughout the event to perform songs for Anushka. The highlight of the event was when he sang a Bhojpuri song while the crowd rejoiced during the promotional event held at a private institute.

Need we remind you, this is the same BJP MP who had misbehaved with a female teacher over her request to sing at a school function.

If this wasn’t news enough, the MP who recognizes himself as his ‘people’s person’ got so involved with the stars that he failed to interact with locals on his visit to the PM’s Parliamentary constituency. Tiwari chose to be associated with such an event while the people of Varanasi were expecting a discussion for the development of the constituency from him, given his contacts and his high-profile image.

However, what further hurt the sentiments of the people of UP was not the enthusiasm the MP showed for the promotion of a film he is not associated with whatsoever, but his willingness to forego a cultural event scheduled at village Lamhi.

The President of the Delhi unit of BJP failed to fulfill a political commitment of attending a cultural event scheduled at village Lamhi to celebrate the birth anniversary of Munshi Premchand.

So much for being an artist, we’d say!

While these developments may not gather national attention, the people of Varanasi are sure to hold Tiwari accountable for his involvement in such foolish and murky dealings.

BHOPAL, August 20, 2016: Since Friday, fifteen people have died across Madhya Pradesh in the devastation caused by three days of continuous rain and resulting floods, including building collapses in Sagar and Satna districts, officials said on Saturday.

The authorities have enlisted the help of the Army and called for helicopters to be used for rescuing people marooned by floods.

Seven members of an artisan’s family died and three were seriously injured early on Saturday in Baniyani Ghat area of Rahatgarh in Sagar district when their house collapsed due to continuous rain, police said.

The collapse resulted in the death of Manu Rani (55), Vikas (18), Vipin (13), Sanjana (10), Kallu (30), Sarla (25) and Tamanna, who was one-and-a-half-years old.

The three injured are in a serious condition in a hospital.

In Maihar town in Satna district, a newly built, three-storey building with construction workers’ families living in it collapsed amid heavy rain on Saturday, burying many people under the rubble, police said.

Kirti Azad to file petition in high court regarding DDCA row

New Delhi: Kirti Azad, Former Indian cricketer requested for the appointment of an administrator to manage alleged financial irregularities in District Cricket Association (DDCA) and Delhi. He will also file a petition to the Delhi High Court regarding this.

The suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) said the petition will also be impleading the central and state governments, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) besides all current and former DDCA officials, including former President and current Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

“Once Justice Mukul Mudgal’s second report (on financial irregularities) on DDCA is submitted, we will attach it with our written petition, demanding the appointment of an administrator. We would also demand a time-bound Special Investigative Team (SIT) probe on mismanagement that has been going on in DDCA,” Azad told reporters at his residence here.

“We will file a petition against the Centre as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Urban Development is part of it. Concerning the state government, my complaint is against the Entertainment Tax Department for not raising questions (about irregularities). I also hope CBI starts an inquiry and not be a ‘caged parrot’ as the Supreme Court has termed it.”

Azad thanked and praised Justice Mudgal for the successful conduct last year of the India-South Africa Test at the Ferozeshah Kotla in New Delhi.

“For the first time since 1982, DDCA made profit from a Test match. The last time DDCA made profit was in 1982 in the Test match against England,” the 57-year-old said.

“That is also because BCCI organised the match with state association officials being behind bars after a CBI enquiry. They (DDCA) are so shameless that they even tried to hoodwink Justice Mudgal by submitting fake bills,” said the former all-rounder.

The 1983 World Cup-winner released a letter he wrote to Jaitley, dated September 13, 2015, where he alleged that the senior BJP leader played a “nefarious role” in DDCA affairs.

BJP has suspended Azad for his attack on Jaitley and served him a show cause notice, asking why he should not be expelled. Azad claimed that BJP will revoke his suspension as he had not targeted the party or the government but only corruption.
