New Delhi: Two people sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out in a residential building here on Saturday, an official said.

The incident was reported around 11.15 a.m. from Vasant Kunj in south Delhi.

“Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot that took an hour to douse the blaze,” said a Delhi Fire Service officer.

Sanjeev Gupta, 50, and Naresh Kumar, 28, the building’s residents, suffered burn injures but have been said to be out of danger.

“We are yet to ascertain the reason behind the fire,” said the officer.

A huge crowd of fans — from every nook and corner of the city and NCR — waited for hours to catch a glimpse of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who took to a stage at a south Delhi market on Friday with wife Jaya and daughter Shweta Bachchan.

The Bachchan family, minus Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was here for the launch of a Kalyan Jewellers showroom at the South Extension market.

A stage was set up facing the main road, where people came out in large numbers to watch Bollywood’s “Shahenshah” and hear him say some words. Whether it was Noida, Gurugram or even Saharanpur, people travelled from various places to make the most of the chance.

Consider Delhi like my home, says Big B as fans cheer.

Overwhelmed by the turnout of fans, Big B told the crowd: “I thank everyone for coming here. You all have come out in great numbers. I consider Delhi like my home, and you all are family members to me.”

His words drew a loud cheer and applause from the audience members, some of whom waited for long, braving the heat. The buzz about the event had been made via newspaper ads and radio announcements.

With some of them almost a photographic reflection of daybreak after rain, artist Purnendu Mandal’s canvasses — currently on exhibition at Triveni Kala Sangam here — are a deluge of vivid warm colours that capture a city’s landscape after rain.

“It is almost like looking outside a window, but through a work of art,” Mandal told IANS.

Mandal’s 15 acrylic- and oil-on-canvass artworks – collectively titled “Reflections 3” – document the subtleties of urban life during the rains — first light in a city, storms, rickshaw-pullers and bus drivers resuming activity after a rainy day, and building silhouettes reflecting in the water-filled puddles.
