Smart cities: Task force set to transform Allahabad, Ajmer and Vishakhapatnam

To give a push to smart cities initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Urban development ministry has set up a task force to transform three cities in collaboration with the US.

The task force has been set up to develop Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh, Ajmer in Rajasthan and Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Urban Developent Minister M Venkiah Naidu said.

"The task forces will have representatives from the urban development ministry, external affairs ministry, respective state governments and cities and the US Trade Development Agency (USTDA)," the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The US had offered to assist in the development of the three smart cities during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's September visit to US.
