Mizoram Governor Aziz Qureshi sacked by President Pranab Mukherjee

Mizoram Governor Aziz Qureshi was sacked by President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday.

President has appointed Keshari Nath Tripathi, governor of West Bengal, to discharge the functions of the governor of Mizoram for the time being.

"Aziz Qureshi shall cease to hold the office of the governor of Mizoram and appointed Keshari Nath Tripathi, governor of West Bengal, to discharge the functions of the governor of Mizoram", an official statement said.

Qureshi, who has had a running feud with the Centre had earlier even approached the Supreme Court against attempts to ease him out.

Qureshi, who had a tenure till May 2017, is the second Governor after Kamla Beniwal to be sacked after having been shifted to Mizoram months after the Narendra Modi government assumed office.
