The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju today admitted that China is encouraging violence in North-east states.

In a written reply to a question asked by Parvez Hashmi in the Rajya Sabha, Rijiju said that there are reports that various insurgent/militants groups operating in the North Eastern states procure arms and sophisticated weapons from Sino-Myanmar border towns and South-East Asia. However, there are no reports of China's direct involvement.

The central government is keeping a close eye on such underground militant/insurgent groups' activities. To offset unlawful activities of these groups, the government is supplementing efforts of the state government through various measures.

Rijiju said that the central government is deploying additional central security forces in the areas to tackle any kind of intensive counter insurgency operations. Also, the government is providing security for vulnerable installations and projects.
