Abu Dhabi: The Indian embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made it mandatory for prospective employers seeking to hire Indian workers to register online on its website, an official statement here said.

According to the statement issued by the embassy on Sunday, the employers will need to register online at the eMigrate system (www.emigrate.gov.in) after which they can obtain a permit to recruit workers directly or through approved recruiting agents.

The new system will be implemented in phases — employers hiring between 50 and 150 Indian workers will have to register before June 30; those hiring 20 to 50 workers must register by July 31; and those hiring less than 20 workers must register by August 31.

Employers hiring over 150 workers are advised to register online with immediate effect.

Employers will be required to declare the terms and conditions of employment at the time of registration. (IANS)
