Haridwar: On the occasion of World Environment Day a spiritual group, Gayatri Pariwar announced that it has achieved its 2011 target of planting 10 million trees across the country.

The group took an oath to plant 10 million trees in the country in 2011 on the birth centenary of Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya, the founder of Gayatri Pariwar.

"We are happy to declare that this target has been achieved," said Gayatri Pariwar head Pranav Pandya, adding the drive had helped in turning more than 100 small hills in Madhya Pradesh green.

Pandya said Gayatri Pariwar had planted environment friendly as well as medicinal and fruit plants during the drive.

"We not only plant trees but make arrangements for their growth also," he said. (IANS)
