Kolkata: On Tuesday, following an email claiming bombs were planted at the West Bengal secretariat, the 200-year-old Writers' Building was evacuated. Police later informed that it turned out to be a hoax.

Most of the departments in the majestic heritage complex were shifted to the "Nabanna" building in the neighbouring Howrah district due to the undergoing renovations.
