New Delhi: With the Justice Lodha lead committee set to submit its report to the Supreme Court on January 4, there are expectations of fundamental changes in the BCCI.

The suggestions are expected to encompass many areas of the BCCI's functioning, beginning with the act under which it is registered. It is currently registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975.

The committee during their period of investigation extensively consulted with many persons including cricketers, advocates and others associated directly or indirectly with the BCCI.

Major changes are also expected to be seen in the management structures. Currently, most management positions are headed by politicians and other non-cricketers, which is likely to change.

"The recommendation of the committee will reflect the majority view. The recommendation on this score could spell doom for most non-cricketers, especially politicians, who routinely get themselves elected as heads of the state affiliates and have a say in the allotment of matches to venues. If the politician is powerful, his state affiliate invariably got prime matches in a tournament conducted by the BCCI," a source quoted them as having said.

The committee is also likely to recommend changes in the status of the smaller cricket affiliates with revamped revenue sharing model.(With inputs from TNN)(image courtesy: theweek.in)
