Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, attended a National Youth Week programme organised by the state government on Tuesday to observe the 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at Sri Kanteerava Indoor Stadium.

He said, the young generation of India should follow Vivekananda's teachings.

He took a dig at right-wing element claiming that the external groups are using Swami Vivekananda as a mascot to promote their "ulterior motives".

The programme was not attended by the BJP bigwigs despite the names of M Venkaiah Naidu were mentioned on the invitation.

Siddaramaiah said, "Vivekananda placed the religion followed by millions in our country on a pedestal where it was seen as a pioneer in advocating universal brotherhood''.

Vivekananda being a great human being never built a wall around Hinduism instead his motive was to break religious barriers. Siddaramaiah said there are organisations which are using the spiritual leader's name to spread differences, hence, people should not follow them blindly.
