On Tuesday, the Delhi Police received government authorisation to utilise the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty to obtain information from GitHub, a US-based company, concerning the person who submitted the app, Sulli deal, to the site six months ago. In July of last year, the insulting "Sulli Deals" mobile app was released, in which images of Muslim women were posted without their agreement.
A shocking incident of harassment and insulting women from minority communities on social media surfaced two days ago after a Delhi-based woman journalist filed a complaint with the Delhi Police, alleging that she was being targeted by an unidentified group of people on a mobile application called 'Bulli Bai,' which was created on the GitHub platform once again. "Bulli Bai," which first appeared on January 1, included a lot of insulting images of women, including journalists, social workers, students, and celebrities.
In her complaint, the victim journalist alleged that she discovered a doctored photograph of herself on a website portal named bullibai.github.io (since removed) in an unsuitable, unacceptable, and blatantly vulgar context on January 1 morning. The complaint stated, "The phrase Bulli Bai itself appears to be rude, and the content of this website/portal is plainly intended at demeaning Muslim women, as the disparaging epithet 'Bulli' is used only for Muslim women."
A Twitter handle called @bullibai was also promoting "Bulli Bai," with a display photo of a "Khalistan supporter" and the message "Women can be rented via the app." At the same time, this account was supporting Khalistan material.
According to reports, Delhi Police sent a letter to Twitter on Monday, requesting details on the account that originally tweeted about the 'Bulli Bai' app and requesting that the obscene content be removed. According to reports, the authorities also requested information on the 'Bulli Bai' app creator on the software development site GitHub.

"Investigation into the 'Sulli transactions' is still ongoing," Chinmoy Biswal, Additional Commissioner of Police, told IANS when questioned about the case's status.
On Sunday, the Delhi Police filed a FIR against unnamed persons who are bullying and insulting women from minority communities on social media. Meanwhile, a Mumbai Police squad from Uttarakhand detained a lady suspected of being the brains behind the controversial "Bulli Bai" app. The move comes a day after Mumbai Police arrested a 21-year-old Bengaluru engineering student in connection with the scandal.
