Software Engineer Killed in Delhi’s Nihal Vihar by Relatives Over Baby’s Medicine Dose

A CRIME IN DELHI unfolded when 31-year-old Vinay Gupta was killed over an argument with his wife. Vinay lived in Nihal Vihar, Delhi, and worked as a software engineer at Adobe in Noida, earning around Rs. 60 lakh/year. The incident took place when he and his wife started arguing over their children’s medicine dosage on Friday, August 21, 2026. Soon after the argument, the wife’s relatives ambushed Vinay and killed him right in front of her mother.

A Fight Over Medicine Led Wife’s Relatives Ambushing Vinay 

Vinay Gupta aged 31, was living with his wife Rekha, the housemaid and a four-and-a-half-month old twin. His parents lived one floor below. Vinay and Rekha were married for three and a half years. Vinay’s family gave their alibi to the police and revealed that the matter started on Friday morning, when he and Rekha were arguing over the quantity of their children’s medicine dosage. Rekha stepped outside to make an instant phone call to her relatives. 

A simple scaffold turned into a nightmare. Rekha returned home with her two brothers, sister-in-law, father, uncle, and few more relatives. Vinay’s mother thought that they had come to visit them so decided to arrange for some snacks. Instead, she saw her son being attacked. Her son was being grabbed by his hair and hands, choked him and hit on his chest, when she tried to intervene alongside her husband, they were struck too. Vinay was rushed to the hospital by a neighbour but it was too late for the doctors to save his life. At present, the police are reviewing the CCTV footage and other evidence. The case is registered as a murder case.

The Crime Disguised as a Planned Attack, Police Are On It

Vinay’s mother is suspicious about this whole incident. She reported to the police and alleged that her daughter-in-law could’ve tempered with the CCTV cameras when the relatives arrived. Her anger demands Rekha to be handed over to the family so she can be punished. Vinay’s sister stayed with her in-laws when the incident happened. Upon hearing that his brother was attacked, she rushed over the place. His sister questioned the timings of the arrival of Rekha’s relatives and how six members can show up so quickly. Though she claims that there were six involved but only four were detained so far, that includes Rekha, her two brothers and sister-in-law.

Vinay’s sister also said that Rekha ate separately from the family and that one day her brother threatened Vinay. CCTV footage, family member’s statements and forensic data is being gathered by Police. The evidence will help to unfold the case and confirm whether the crime was actually a set-up or just a normal fight that went too far. His parents are left grieving while an on-going investigation can lead to more breakthroughs in the case.
