Facebook to launch ‘Donate Now’ button

After Like, Comment, and Share, Facebook is all set to launch a ‘Donate Now’ button for all nonprofits’ pages and linked advertisements.

facebook-donate-now-buttonFacebook had released the “Donate Now” button in 2013 as well, but that was in association with specific partners like the American Cancer Society and The Red Cross. Till now, if at all, this button was displayed on any organization’s page, it was more of a call-to-action link, wherein on clicking the button it would inform you that the organization is not affiliated with Facebook and instead would take you to the concerned site for further procedure.

However, with the launch of ‘Donate Now’ button, there will be a payment gateway which would link the organization and Facebook facilitating the nonprofits as well the users.

Social media giant Facebook’s monthly active users (MAUs) grew 8 per cent year-over-year MAUs to reach 2.38 billion at the end of first quarter of this year while the number of people using Facebook Stories hit 500 million every day.

The platform saw the same rate of growth in daily active users, Facebook said in its earnings statement late Wednesday.

“Daily active users (DAUs) – DAUs were 1.56 billion on average for March 2019, an increase of 8 per cent year-over-year,” the statement added.

“In addition, we estimate that more than 2.1 billion people now use Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or Messenger (our “Family” of services) every day on average, and around 2.7 billion people use at least one of our Family of services each month,” Facebook added.

On an call with investors following the company’s first-quarter earnings report, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that 500 million use Facebook Stories every day, The Verge reported on Wednesday.
