Madhya Pradesh government has introduced a facility of digital locker to give a boost to the concept of paperless governance in the state.

"Facility of digital locker has been introduced to concretise concept of paperless governance. Through this facility, space will be available to every citizen on government cloud," an official release said today.

Digital locker is a dedicated personal storage space, linked to each person's Aadhaar number. It can be used to securely store e-documents as well as store Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) link of e-documents issued by various government departments.

People can store all their important information on the government portal www.digitallocker.gov.in by registering themselves with the help of their Aadhaar number, said a government spokesperson.

If someone's mobile number is not linked with Aadhaar card number, then he can reach out to nearby Aadhaar registration centre, MP Online kiosk, public facilitation centre or any other authorized agency to enjoy the benefits of digital locker.

A government release said that this facility will minimize the use of hard copies of documents, provide facility to maintain electronically and digitally signed documents online, determine authenticity of documents through e-signature and keep a check on fake documents.
