Bandana Kumari

New Delhi: An FIR has been lodged against Sajjan Kumar, husband of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Bandana Kumari, for pressurising the Sarvodaya Vidyalaya principal for an admission, police said on Saturday.

In a written complaint, filed at Shalimar Bagh police station on Saturday, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya principal Ranjeet Singh alleged that Sajjan Kumar “harassed and misbehaved” with him, police said.

“He has also submitted a video recording of the fight along with his complaint to the Directorate of Education on Wednesday (July 8),” police added.

Charges under section 146 (rioting), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), and 506/34 (punishment for criminal intimidation) are leveled against Sajjan Kumar, a police official told IANS.

On July 8, in a letter to the Delhi education department, Ranjeet Singh said that Sajjan Kumar threatened him with “dire consequences”.

“Kumar called me without introducing himself. He said that his referred admission had not been done. I told him to come and meet me… audio of the same is available with me. He then came to the school and started talking loudly.. He did not listen to my point of view and told me to either take VRS or threatened to get me terminated,” Singh wrote in the letter.

Aam Aadmi Party MLA Prakash Jarwal was arrested by police on Tuesday night in connection with an alleged assault on Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by two AAP MLAs, an AAP leader said.

“One AAP MLA Prakash Jharwal has been arrested by Delhi Police on a frivolous complaint by IAS,” AAP chief Spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said in a tweet.

“Delhi Police arrested elected MLA without any evidence. What about the arrest of IAS officers who can be seen beating Minister in Secretariat? There is FIR by the minister as well as video evidence, but no arrests,” he added.
