A court in Goa has granted bail to the four Fabindia employees, arrested after HRD minister Smriti Irnai discovered a hidden camera in the trail room of the store in Goa.

Fabindia's lawyer, Advocate Raju Paulekar, told the court that the four employees are being charged with tougher laws than necessary as it is a high profile case.

"Section 354 of the IPC opens with two words – assault and criminal force. In this case it is inapplicable. There is a Supreme Court judgment also which says that the police should not arrest people randomly, but give them an opportunity to explain themselves," Paulekar said.

He also said the camera was there to prevent shoplifting and was not a spy cameras to carry out illegal activity.

The four employees were booked for voyeurism, intrusion into privacy and also capturing, publishing image of private area of any person without consent.
