Delhi government formulates Quality Assurance Unit to audit ongoing construction works

A 10-member team of engineers has been set up by the Delhi's Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct quality control checks and technical audits of all ongoing construction works, an official said on Thursday.

The "Quality Assurance Unit" constituted by PWD Minister Satyendra Jain, will provide technical inputs for government projects like construction of buildings, roads, flyovers and works being done under the MLAs Local Area Development scheme.

The team will be spearheaded by a superintending engineer. It will comprise of four executive and four assistant engineers.

According to the statement made by the official, construction work carried out by various civic agencies, including the three municipalities, will be covered under the unit.

Further measures such as suo motu checks and cognizance of complaints from elected representatives and public, will also be undertaken by the unit.
