New Delhi: An alleged multi-crore transport scam and Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung's decision to close the case figured at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's meeting with President Pranab Mukherjee, a senior AAP leader said.

The Delhi government's Anti-Corruption Branch had begun a probe, on Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's instructions, into the alleged Rs.100 crore transport scam that had occured during then time of the previous Sheila Dikshit government.

"The issue was discussed in Kejriwal's meeting with the president. Jung's order of shutting the case came up too," the leader, who did not want to be identified, told IANS.

The Delhi government has questioned the basis of Jung's decision in the past to close the case. Jung has maintained that there was no need for a probe.

In 2012, the ACB had registered a case in the alleged loss of Rs.100 crore to the Delhi government in awarding the contract of operation and maintenance of inspection and certification of CNG vehicles.

However, the then Sheila Dikshit government had denied permission to the ACB when it wanted to question certain officials.

In January 2014, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated a preliminary inquiry in the case and was assured all help by the then Aam Aadmi Party government. But after Arvind Kejriwal resigned as chief minister in February 2014, the case got stuck again. (IANS)
