Singapore, Singapore welcomes the agreement reached by Iran and the major world powers over the Islamic republic's nuclear programme, the ministry of foreign affairs has said.

"We commend the hard work and efforts of all the parties involved," the ministry said in a statement late Tuesday, adding that the implementation of the agreement will be "especially crucial", Xinhua reported.

"We urge all parties to fulfill their respective obligations and implement the agreement as soon as possible. This is in the interests of all parties involved and the international community."

The deal was reached between Iran and six countries — China, Britain, France, Russia, the US and Germany — after a 13-year stand-off.
