Author : NewsGram Desk

Hisar: The tradition of wearing colonial-era gowns at university convocations was broken by Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University (HAU) here on Sunday with students wearing a white dress for the occasion.

Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, who is also chancellor of HAU, conferred degrees at the convocation. He also skipped the traditional gown.

The dignitaries and the recipients of degrees also did not wear the traditional convocation gowns as the university had recently decided to discard the colonial practice.

Solanki also conferred honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) degrees upon yoga guru Ramdev and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
