North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un will be felicitated with a global statesmanship award this year.
The Sukarno award, named after the daughter of Indonesia's founding father, will be presented to Kim Jong-un by the Bali-based Sukarno Centre.
Speaking on the announcement, Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, daughter of Indonesia's founder said, "We will give the award to President Kim Jong-un because he has been consistent in carrying out the ideals of the great leader, Kim Il Sung, which is to fight imperialism."
"So this will be a sequel, where we give the award to Kim Jong-un for his persistence in fighting neo-colonialism," Soekarnoputri said, alluding to the award being previously awarded to Kim II Sung.
The Sukarno award is presented to people who have made contributions to peace and development such as Mahatma Gandhi and Aung San Suu Kyi.
In a remarkably absurd judgment, the award will be awarded to Kim Jong-un despite the execution of a man who ran a turtle farm by the North Korean dictator earlier this month.
The man was apparently hounded for not looking after the turtles well enough. The farmer, on his part, had complained about issues such as electricity, water and equipment, complaints that were dismissed by the leader as "nonsensical."
Shortly after the incident the man was shot dead.
Cases of poor governance and apathy are frequently reported in North Korea while around 10.2 million North Koreans are currently facing the "worst drought in over a hundred years."
Outlandish claims are also commonly made by the dictatorship regime. In June, the country announced it had invented a wonder drug capable of curing Aids, Ebola and cancer, a dubious contention on which the world heavily came down upon.
False propaganda reports such as Kim Jong-un inventing the hamburger and possessing magical powers have also been made.
Though reports show that Kim Jong-un was born in Siberia, the country claims that he was born atop a North Korean mountain prompting a double rainbow and the spontaneous appearance of a new star.
