Modi pays homage to victims of Hiroshima bombings on its 70th anniversary

New Delhi: On the 70th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombings, during second world war, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to those people who lost their lives in it.

"My homage to all those who lost their lives in Hiroshima. The bombings remind us of the horrors of war & their effect on humanity," Modi said in a tweet.

Modi said the solutions to humanity lie in peace and progress.

"Let us walk shoulder to shoulder to create a peaceful world, free from violence," the prime minister said.

Japan marked the 70th anniversary of the first atomic bomb being dropped by a US aircraft in Hiroshima killing at least 140,000 people in the city.
