Bihar special package our right: Nitish Kumar

New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Rs.1.25 lakh crore special package for the state is its right and not a favour.

"While I will wait to hear details of the so called package announced by Modi, I emphasize, special assistance is our right and not a favour," Nitish Kumar said in a tweet.

"Calling my efforts for getting special status to Bihar a solicitation, I just want to say if I have to go to someone's door as a beggar for Bihar and people of Bihar, I have no hesitation," he said.

He was referring to Modi's remark at an event in Ara town in Bihar. Modi questioned Nitish Kumar's anger when he had called Bihar "bimaru" (sick).

"They say Bihar is not 'bimaru', and then they make demands…," Modi said.
