Patna/Sasaram: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi have been booked on Tuesday on the orders of the Election Commission for unethical poll campaigning. While Lalu is charged for making comments hurting sentiments of castes, Sushil is accused of violating the model code of conduct for promising bribe to voters.
The FIR at Ganga Bridge police station in Vaishali district revealed that Lalu Prasad in his alleged speech provoked voters on caste lines. Lalu delivered the speech at village Terasiya in Raghopur assembly constituency in Vaishali district on the first day of his campaign for his son Tejaswi Yadav on Sunday. The Election Commission ordered lodging of FIR against Lalu after screening his speech.
"Lalu, in his speech, asked the Yadavs to 'stay awake and remain united' especially against Brahmins.
Addressing an election meeting at Bhabua in Kaimur district on Monday, Sushil allegedly claimed that if NDA came to power in the state it would give Rs 50,000 in cash to meritorious students, color TVs to dalits and 'dhoti-sari' to poor people.
