Indian origin Asif Kapadiya wins at Grammy

Los Angeles: Indian origin British Filmmaker Asif Kapadiya on Monday bagged a Grammy Award for his film "Amy", it's a documentary based on the life of late singer Amy Winehouse.

He was also honoured with the Best Music Film award for "Amy", which is also nominated in the Oscar for the Best Documentary Feature category.

He Tweeted after his victory "Amazing! Thank you @TheGRAMMYs #AMY wins Best Music Film @AmyFilmUK @amywinehouse @AmyTheMovie @A24,".

The documentary uses archive footage to tell the story of the "Rehab" hitmaker's life and premature death. She died at the age of 27.

The filmmaker on Sunday won a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) honour for the movie, this movie was premiered at the 2015 Cannes International Film Festival.

Kapadia has won BAFTA three times. He was born in India and brought up in London, will next helm a feature documentary about the soccer player Diego Maradona.
